We are excited to see War Horse on stage at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia. If you haven’t seen the movie, here is a bit about this amazing tale. War Horse is a remarkable tale of courage, loyalty and friendship. In England 1914 as World War One begins, Joey, young Albert’s beloved horse, is sold to the cavalry and shipped from England to France. He is soon caught up in enemy fire, and fate takes him on an extraordinary journey, serving on both sides before finding himself alone. But Albert cannot forget Joey and, still not old enough to enlist, he embarks on a treacherous mission to find and bring him home. This powerfully moving and imaginative drama, filled with stirring music and songs, is a show of phenomenal inventiveness. At its heart are astonishing life-sized puppets created by South Africa’s Handspring Puppet Company, who bring breathing, galloping, charging horses to life on the stage

Our children are used to observing the world on TV but when you have the opportunity to show children entertainment which is "outside the box" it's exciting. Exposing children to the theater is key for maximizing learning and development potential. A child leaves a performance and appropriate times. Exposing children to the theater also helps kids learn how to express their feeling physically and emotionally in a healthy manner.

As we all know that the Theater can be much more expensive than going to the movie theater. Taking your child to an on stage performance is something special that you can do for a birthday or holiday gift. Now that my children are older and can understand the concept of experiences vs material gifts we have chosen to offer them things we can do together instead of a party. It not only brings our family closer but also broadens their perspective on life.

Sometimes it's much nicer to give the gift of time together doing something special than a material gift that they eventually will stop playing with. You can never take away the experiences we share with our children.
