I LOVE cooking with my kids and they are constantly in the kitchen asking to help mix, slice, even put things away...anything to seem helpful. We also go out in the garden daily to see what can be harvested and we then try to have that for dinner that night. For instance we picked a ton of tomatoes recently and with that we made homemade tomato soup, and I found a perfect healthy, kid friendly recipe from The Usborne Healthy Cookbook.

The Usborne Healthy Cookbook is fantastic when trying to cook with kids, not only does it have amazing recipes for the whole family to enjoy but it has sections in the book reminding us...What is healthy food?, What should we eat and explaining how much carbs, vitamins and minerals, protein, fiber and fat we should have in our daily diets. If you are not so hot in the kitchen...no problem because the book also has a section on "Getting Started' which explains measuring, cooking instructions, flavoring foods and preparing foods for cooking.

Once I started looking at the recipes I began to realize that kids could really make most of the meals on their own or with little help from parents. The combination of photography, hand-drawn and easy to understand illustrations will certainly appeal to children and parents.  A big plus for us was the concealed spiral binding allows the book to remain flat on a kitchen surface

Each recipe they have such as the "Mini Pizzas" gives you the recipe plus different variations you can make then explains the healthy food facts about the ingredients in the pizza. I don't know about you, but at times I may love a certain recipe but have no idea what the nutritional value is of it.

There are so many amazing recipes suitable for everyone's taste buds. The great thing is you can use this cookbook as a guide.  When making one of the recipes, you can put your own little twist on things and make them your own. For instance instead of making granola I decided to make granola bars. I have a ton of granola but always wanted to make bars and never have. The recipe in Usborne's Healthy Cookbook was a fantastic guide to get me started and then I made some adjustments to the recipe so it would then become granola bars instead of just granola. Some of the other recipes we tried with our kids were the Smoothies,Tomato Soup and Open Faced Sandwiches.

Guess What? Now you too can have a copy of this amazing Healthy Cookbook. Today is the beginning of my Healthy Cookbook Giveaway, below you will find all the things you need to do to enter, the contest ends on the 22nd of August at midnight.
