I decide to use the smoothie recipes from the cookbook as a guide for me to make my South American Smoothie. I didn't want to head out to the grocery store so I looked for ingredients I already had in the house. When
bananas start to get too ripe I throw them in the freezer to use for smoothies breads etc..so that was ingredient #1 for my smoothie. I also had a sliced
Papaya in the freezer...#2. The next ingredient was a ripe
avocado #3, you may think...gross an avocado in a smoothie! Let me tell you avocados have nearly 20 essential nutrients, including fiber,
potassium, Vitamin E, B-vitamins and folic acid. I also added organic banana/mango yogurt from my favorite yogurt company
Traders Point Creamery and all their products come from
grass-fed cattle. The last ingredient was
honey, it gives it a little sweetness without adding tons of sugar.
South American Smoothie2 frozen bananas (let defrost enough to take the peel off)
1 Papaya (seeds out and meat scooped out)
1 Avocado
1/2 cup of your choice of yogurt
4 tablespoons of honey
handful of ice
DirectionsPlace all the ingredients into a bowl and use an immersion blender to mix until smooth or you can also place all ingredients into a regular blender and mix until smooth. Then ENJOY!
