Annual Philadelphia Costume Swap
I am still recovering from Friday night! The 2nd Annual
Costume Swap was a great success. The night was filled with eager moms
looking for costumes, yummy food, and local businesses showing off their
wonderful products and services and women just enjoying a night out.
I'd like to thank all the local business women that came out to support our
Swap. Baby Pop Designs is a mom
owned business that makes the most adorable cape - mask sets that would make
any boy or girl feel like they were a real Superhero. HAPPYFAMILY
sell organic foods for babies, kids and now adults. The SQUEEZES they were passing out are
amazing, in one there is the same amount of protein as in 1 egg! WOW...it's
like breakfast in a pouch! Print Art Kids
is able to transform your child's artwork into note cards, framed art,
stationary, coffee cups etc.. great for holiday gifts. Doula Kate offers amazing
child birthing classes, breastfeeding support groups and private sessions. Kate
also creates amazing items from recycled materials. Jamie
Siever Photography, creates
special moments with her camera that you can save forever. Eden's Touch Bread Company
is a new start up company that makes the most amazing breads, spreads and now
makes bread kits so all you have to do is add water....how easy is that?!
Everyone wants to feel beautiful right? Well, Stella Dot makes me feel
beautiful every time I put a piece of her jewelry on. Tastefully Simple makes
entertaining easy, and the samples of pound cake were mouth watering. Thirty One Gifts had some
amazing bags that were suitable for the whole family. Great lunch totes, sport
totes, reusable bags for groceries. I was introduced to Choffy about
a year ago and I fell in love with the idea. Choffy
is brewed chocolate...yes I said it CHOCOLATE! It's made from the
finest organic cacão beans, roasted and ground for a rich full flavored drink.
While it brews like coffee and supplies you with long lasting energy, Choffy
promotes whole body wellness without the negative effects found in other
drinks. If that wasn't enough we had amazing Swag Bags filled with many goodies
from our vendors and also special items from Sun and Earth, Eat
Cleaner and Main Line Parent. My partner in crime Jessica from Delco PA Moms came through with the
fantastic space at the Swarthmore
Community Center and got some amazing food donated us by local
restaurants.
We were also thrilled to have so many people donate items to our charity Cradles to Crayons, I know that all those children are going to be so excited with these items.
Here is a sideshow of our FUN night
I am so thankful for Celebrate
Green for giving us the inspiration to do this in our own Community. This
is an amazing way for parents to save a little money at Halloween and also help
save the planet at the same time. Did you know that swapping half of the kids
costumes would reduce the annual landfill waste by over 6,200 tons? Just think
if every community (large or small) had a costume swap, how much waste we would
reduce! Your swap doesn't have to be as large as ours, you can just call up a
few friends and do a girls night out and swap costumes, clothes, toys...the
possibilities are endless!
National Costume Swap Day
is TODAY October 9th. People are celebrating this movement throughout the whole
month of October so please check to see if you can find one in your area.
Celebrate Green also gives you amazing ideas of how you can not only make
Halloween a little more eco-friendly but other holidays as well. They even have
a Celebrate Green Book with recipes, tips and creative ideas to help you along.
My friends at HAPPYFAMILY is also giving a copy away so ENTER
to WIN!
Do you have any eco-friendly holiday tips that you would like to share?
